Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St Nicholas soon would be there.
The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads.
And mamma in her ‘kerchief, and I in my cap,
Had just settled our brains for a long winter’s nap.
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.
The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below.
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a miniature sleigh, and eight tinny reindeer.
With a little old driver, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment it must be St Nick.
More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name!
"Now Dasher! now, Dancer! now, Prancer and Vixen!
On, Comet! On, Cupid! on, on Donner and Blitzen!
To the top of the porch! to the top of the wall!
Now dash away! Dash away! Dash away all!"
As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky.
So up to the house-top the coursers they flew,
With the sleigh full of Toys, and St Nicholas too.
And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof
The prancing and pawing of each little hoof.
As I drew in my head, and was turning around,
Down the chimney St Nicholas came with a bound.
He was dressed all in fur, from his head to his foot,
And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot.
A bundle of Toys he had flung on his back,
And he looked like a peddler, just opening his pack.
His eyes-how they twinkled! his dimples how merry!
His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!
His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,
And the beard of his chin was as white as the snow.
The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth,
And the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath.
He had a broad face and a little round belly,
That shook when he laughed, like a bowlful of jelly!
He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf,
And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself!
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head,
Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread.
He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
And filled all the stockings, then turned with a jerk.
And laying his finger aside of his nose,
And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose!
He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,
And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.
But I heard him exclaim, ‘ere he drove out of sight,
"Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night!"
only 178 were-unicorns were harmed in the making of this post. the following text may be too random for platypuses under the age of 0.001. if you experience bewilderment, hysterical laughter or break-dancing fits,we recommend you see a doctor because Elvenpath may not be right for you. reader discretion is advised.
Mwahahaha! I've finally escaped from the evil were-unicorns in the distant realm of Gharzvord!
WHOO-HOO!
....
And that is why I haven't been posting lately.
So, anywhoo, it's beginning to look alllot like Chiiiiistmaaaas... Oh, and while I'm at it, YES - I said 'Christmas'. Not 'X-mas', 'The Holidays', or 'The Holiday Season'.
So sue me.
But anyway.
Yesterday we finally performed our Church Christmas pageant.
I was a bard. Named Alpheus.
Our tree looks pretty.
Our street is allll lit up with pretty lights.
There's snow everywhere. EVERYWHERE.
There are festive CDs playing on our CD player.
There are annoying festive songs playing on the radio.
Really annoying songs.
only one person managed to score one hundred percent in the quiz, therefore winning the grand prize of a personalized desktop background a la ShadowFlower.
Two of my good friends, my cousin, my aunt and my sister all tried my quiz and failed to answer every question correctly, (teehee), so many congratulations, you must be extremely lucky...
if you're weird like me and notice odd things you may notice this post is aligned to the lest rather than to the usual EP-traditional middle. reason? i feel lefty-ish today. deal with it.
I'm that kind of girl who is using another girl's tag instead of using her own creativity for a post.
I'm that kind of girl who delights in maddening her followers with her constant randomness; like the comment she's about to make about charging slugs and banana cream pie. Oh, by the way;
charging slugs and banana cream pie.
I'm that kind of girl who always remembers she named her mandolin Catherine Stirling, but still gets her friends mixed up.
I'm that kind of girl who loves pink, loathes purpley-pink, loves writing, loathes writing for school, loves laptops, loathes MacBooks, loves Christmas Carols, loathes modern Christmas songs, loves computer games, loathes video games, loves period dramas, loathes High School dramas, loves chocolate, loathes white chocolate, loves swimming pools, loathes hot tubs, loves Halloween, loathes Halloween decorations, loves hair things, loathes wearing them.
I'm that kind of girl who will cry when the villain dies.
Especially this one, Ungatt Trunn, Ruler of the Earth. (the kitty.)
I'm that kind of girl who will watch Historical Romance dramas but still loves Nacho Libre. Go Fig.
I'm that kind of girl who is superfreakinabsolutely aggravated at Blogger right now 'cause they won't let me have my post longer than this. Sorry. I'll try to get this straightened out, but for now.. XShadow
Read the post title, because I don't feel like repeating it.
It's actually rather odd, (now that I come to think about it) that I've never told you this before, since me being Finnish is really quite a big deal to me.
I am actually half Finnish. My father is allll Finnish and a little bit Swedish and mum's ancestory lies in the UK; mostly in Britain & Scotland.
So.
About Finland.
First thing: In Finland, they don't call their country Finland. In Finnish it's called Suomi.
You don't have to try to pronounce it.
For those of you that don't know where Finland is, it's here:
It's beside Sweden, sort of; And it's roughly shaped like a maraca..... or a spoon.
Anyway, moving onward.
The Finnish Flag. How nice.
This is a Finnish sauna. Saunas are a huge part of Finnish culture.
Real Finnish saunas can heat up to at least 130-ish degrees Celsius.
You may see puny infered saunas at Canadian Tire or the Home Depot but those. are. not. saunas.
They are IMPOSTERSAUNAS.
Aherm.
So anyway, I do have a sauna; at my house and at my cottage.
If you would like to know how to pronounce it properly, then look no further.
Finns pronounce it;
SOW-na.
yes.
NOT;
SAHHHHH-NAHHHHH
nononononono.
MOVING ON;
Reindeer.
They are real.
And they live in Finland.
While we're on the topic;
Santa.
He is not real.
But he does live in Finland.
Here ends my terribly slapped-together post about Finland.
Hope you liked it.
If you didn't, its probably because you're Swedish.
Inside joke. Don't ask.
Well actually, I wouldn't mind you asking, because that would mean you'd be commenting.
I really can't come up with a more imaginative word to describe them right now, so let's go with that.
In the middle of my grammar class DVD... (oh c'mon. it was just review anyway..) I decided to clean out the little shelf above my closet and discovered a hatbox stuffed with adorable vintagey-ish hats.
Well, I guess 'discovered' isn't the best word since I knew about the hatbox, but I didn't remember what was in it because I hadn't looked since I was little and thought the hats were ugly and odd.
anyway.
This one's my fave.
Perhaps the only slightly good picture of me ever taken.
Moofuzza here is modeling this one for me because it looks positively ridiculous on me.
Either that or I'm horrrrrrible with a camera. Probably a lil' of both.
Awww.
This one is cute too.
This one was too large for the cow AND it looked rather laughable on me so I had to hold it.
It's cute, eh?
So.
I have a request. Can somebody who has tried the new blogger dashboard tell me what its like?
One is blue, one is black, one is green, one is red.
They are not just any pens.
They are my new best friends.
Really.
(well, sorta..)
The flow is BEAUTIFUL.
The colours are so VIBRANT.
They feel SO STEADY in my hand.
They are PERFECT for cartoon sketches.
They have... LITTLE HEARTS on the caps...
I can't really think of anything else artistic-y sounding so...
..And they look like THIS ↓
So... I spent my afternoon trying them out..
Which mostly consisted of drawing cool-fonty-blooddrippy-logo-y-name-thingies for the evil land in my story. And then spilling my water bottle on it and making a little sploosh on the corner.
It's actually supposed to be Axeland, but as you can see I didn't have enough room so I hyphenated it.
I'm such a dweeb.
Soooooo......
Thank-you for reading about my new pens.
(hopefully they won't notice I'm so desperate for post ideas I'm writing about pens is the translation for the text above.)
Surprisingly, I actually HAVEN'T been abducted by Martians.
I truly have tried to post for you, but absolutely NOTHING came to me... 'Pologies. {I HAVE made a new design though. Do you like it? I am quite proud of it.}
I have been busy. I've been away quite alot to my cottage, and on roadtrips.
I have been WRITING quite alot, writing stories.
The story I am most involved in at the present is a story me and Cassandra made up on a roadtrip to Windsor, (Quite a long trip, by the way from where we live.) The Saga of Bob and Felicia. Perhaps you'll read it some day on one of our blogs, but {very} most likely you will NOT.
I am also working on some posts about another story I'm writing alone, posts about the charactors and the like..
Thanks for reading my little update, you will (hopefully) soon have a real post from me to enjoy!
X ShadowFlower
P.S
The main purpose of this post was to assure you of my living being, and so you wouldn't forget about my blog. I am most definitely not going to write every post in this extremely boring, (but ever so much fun to write) dull format.
It is not quite perfect in my standards, and I still have a bit of twisted code to unmangle, but we are back with a soft, happy new summer design. Thank-you for waiting, and sorry for any confusion while EP was off limits.
Blogger wants to take it away from us, and if we don't act on it, they will.
(dey mean!!)
I, for one, would be DEVASTATED without the option of tweaking my code.
I would most likely stop blogging if I couldn't edit my HTML.
Here a just a few things we couldn't do without this option!
No floating headers.
No special home, older posts and newer posts icons.
No post dividers.
No special text caps or lows.
No other pretty little HTML tweaks.
Here is a bit of what other Bloggers think of this;
MahinaofAhola to Arizonasaid; ''A Blogger blogger's ability to edit custom HTML is what makes his or her blog original and *them*. By taking this ability away, Blogger is essentially taking away the blogger's creativity and originality.''
SomePetitionerssaid;
'' Without the edit HTML feature, my blog design business, as well as so many others, will be destroyed! ''
'' The ability to edit HTML greatly enhances the customization and overall unique experience of blogs. Removing the option to edit HTML would be a very poor move on the part of Blogger.''
''Every blog is different!! Why should we have to choose from an array of pre-fabed, cookie-cutter templates? I think I would die, seriously. I'd definitely move blogging sites.''
So please, friends, family, bloggymen, SIGN THE PETITION!!
This is me. I am an awkward, fantasy-obsessed, tween.
I've learned to deal with it.
I used to wanna follow the dramatic, feelingful, profound format..
but now it sorta disgusts me. It's too fake, un-friendly, and dull.
I'm me - no one else, so I might as well make the best of it.
This is just a small warning of the frighteningly, fiendishly, 'me' posts to come..
You've been warned.
'Nor have I gone MIA, but on a vay-cay to my cottage. It was great, the water was superfreezingcold, the Saunas was awesome, the cousins were a ton of fun, the games were a blast, but I missed Blogger abnormally.
{I'm hopeless, aren't I?!}
I am *oh* *so* *sorry* for not posting in a Coon's Age,
- don't ask -
But I hope you'll be happy to know that I'll be posting a lot more steadily. Just for you. Cause I feel bad.
Hello!
I was sitting at the computer and reading a Robin Blogs Tutorial when I came across;
"1. Find a Skill and Stick With It.
Are you a good artist? Photographer? Designer? Writer? Fashionista? Make that the basic theme of your blog. For instance, my main blog HorseFeathers features my photography in 99% of the posts."
I need more theme and a less random aura on Elvenpath.
I need a purpose for blogging.
So.
I found a purpose some purposes for blogging...
Art, Music, and Literature.
I have always been an artsy, and those three topics I think will help make this blog more themed!
So if you'll excuse me, I'm going off to re-design my blog to a more artsy theme. Au revoir!
This is my first blog-makeover I've ever done on this blog! And I quite like it :)
But why 'Elvenpath'?;
Because, dear readers, as you might know, I am obsessed with all things LoTR and Fantasy, and Elvenpath happens to be one of my favorite Nightwish songs.
I haven't posted in a week! I'm sorry!
I'm now posting to introduce a new feature though,
Music Monday!!!
I will feature a singer or band every Monday! I'll write a sort of review, rate the singer/band, and maybe paste a song or two of theirs also. Since Tag Tuesday was such a failure, I've decided to create a new feature.
Strange and beautiful
are the stars tonight
that dance around your head
in your eyes I see that perfect world
I hope that doesn't sound too weird
And I want all the world to know
that your love's all I need
all that I need
and if we're lost
then we are lost together
yea if we're lost
then we are lost together
I stand before this faceless crowd
and I wonder why I bother
so much controlled by so few
stumbling from one disaster to another
I've heard it all so many times before
it's all a dream to me now
a dream to me now
And if we're lost
then we are lost together
yea if we're lost
then we are lost together
In this silence of this whispered night
I listen only to your breath
and "in" that second of a shooting star
somehow it all makes sense
And I want all the world to know
that your love's all I need
all that I need
and if we're lost
then we are lost together
yea if we're lost
then we are lost together
How could you not like Blue Rodeo? It's a bunch of old Canadian dudes that play guitar and harmonica and sound like their out of air when they're singing so I mean REALLY! How can you not like Blue Rodeo??
I am in too much of a state of shock I can't really explain right now. All I can really say is.... Sighhhhh.... It's hard to be mad at someone like Guy ♥♥♥
Cherry and Lilypetal won a caption contest to be a featured blogger on this blog!
A whole series of posts will be about them, interviews, reviews, etc.
And now, an interview featuring Lilypetal.
How did you discover Blogger?
From my real friend, "Wildflower"
Why and when did you start blogging?
I cant remember exactly when, but it was sometime in 2009. I started to blog because my friend kept raving about it and saying how well the warrior cat blogs were.
Do you plan on blogging for a while?
I do, unless my parents kick me off (Which they probably won't) or I get into a big fight. ( it's happened before)
Why did you choose the name; 'Lilypetal'?
Truthfully, I didn't choose the name!!! This may sound ridiculous, but "Wildflower" and I used to play warriors at recess, back in fourth grade. She was the one who named me Lilypetal, and I absolutely LOVE the name.
Do you have any pets? If so, how many and what did you name them?
Well, my family has five pets total. My brother has an angel fish, and the rest of us "share" two Siamese cats, and a dog. But I got my own cat last year!!! She is a pretty grey female tabby with brown eyes, and her name is Lilypetal!
What type of literature always catches your eye at the bookstore or library?
Hmm, well I really don't care for fantasty. ( except for warriors). I really like realistic fiction though. I like the Mother-Daughter series, and Greyhound. To Kill a Mockingbird was really good to.
Do you have a favorite book? Favorite author(s)?
Well, like I said, Greyhound, To Kill a Mockingbird, Mother Daughter book club series, and more.
A favorite movie? Why?
Hmm. I really am not allowed ( I know. It's sad. ) to watch above PG rated movies, so I mostly watch little kid movies. I have seen 27 Dresses though, and I loved it!
What is your absolute favorite animal? Why?
I Love cats, because if how they look and their personality.
Is there a colour you love among all others? Why?
Purple no doubt about it. I don't know, I just love it!
A favorite music group/singer and why?
Well right now I am into Katy Perry..
What wonder of the universe has always amazed you and why?
I really don't know. I guess how the earth was formed.
Are there any careers you would be attracted to when you are older?
I would really love to be an author!
What colour, animal, and song/music piece represent you the best?
Color: purple
Animal: cat
Song: teenage dream
And of course, *Why do you blog?*
I blog because I love all my great friends ( you know who you are!) and blogging is enjoyable. But the main reason is my friends. I couldn't live without them, no matter where they are. Even if talking to them means never knowing their real name, or never hearing what their voice sounds like, the're my friends, and maybe someday I can call them on the phone, or meet them at the mall to go shopping. If it wasn't for looking forward to IM on the cbox with Speedy or Golden or Shadow or anyone else, then I would not be blogging.
Come on Team Canada! You could have won that gold medal!
The Russians weren't to hard for you, you just weren't playing your best! You fell asleep in the second/third period!
To you I say ARGGGGG!!!
Oh well... Congrats Team Russia.....
I want a sword. (Or a lightsaber(!)) But mostly, I want a sword. Perhaps a two-handed Scottish claymore. Or maybe a rapier, or, or a sabre. Ah, or, a blue hand-and-half like Eragon's. Maybe, more what I need it an authentic Gaelic dirk! Hmmmm..... or a Scottish Basket-Hilted Broadsword!
Have you yet noticed that I like Scottish weapons?? I might as well give up on a sword though, unless I want an authentic plastic sword made all the way across the world in China.... Hmmm.........
;) Merry Wednesday to all and to all a good afternoon!
